Sheela Bringi

About

Sheela Bringi is a sacred music performer and recording artist whose Indian vocals, soaring bansuri flute and rāga harp have graced 50+ new age and world albums, including the Grammy-nominated Bhakti Without Borders. She has released two albums as a solo artist, and her work to bridge the musical worlds of India and America has been profiled by NBC News, NPR, Public Radio International and others. Sheela has extensive training in North Indian classical, devotional and Western musical traditions, and past teachers include Indian maestros Pandit G.S. Sachdev and Ustaad Aashish Khan, and Western contemporary greats such as Cecil Taylor and Meredith Monk. She currently studies Hindustani voice with Sri Subhashish Mukhopadyay (a topmost exponent of the Kotali Gharana). Sheela is adjunct faculty in Music & Indian Devotional Singing

at Naropa University in Boulder, CO. In 2020, Sheela and her partner Brent Kuecker founded an online music school called the Sacred Sound Lab where they offer training to students from around the globe. Sheela tours internationally and has collaborated with artists including Idan Raichel, Karsh Kale, Jai Uttal, and many others.
